The loss of a loved one is one of the most painful and traumatic experiences that anyone could ever go through. Dealing with their loss is even worse, however, every person has their own way of coping with grief.
For this 94-year-old judge, he chose to do something for his neighborhood as a way of dealing with the tragic death of his beloved wife.
94-year-old Keith Davison, a retired district court judge lost his beloved wife Evy Davison to cancer in April 2016. The old couple had been married for 66 years.
The death of his beloved wife left Keith a lonely and depressed man. His life had revolved around his wife before she died, now here he was all alone and devastated. He missed his wife dearly and wished day in, day out that she would come back to him. Keith could hardly bear the silence of their home and stay home alone by himself.
“You just can’t imagine what it’s like,” Davison says in the video below. “You cry a lot. That’s just the way it is because she’s not here,” he said.
In the video, Keith reveals that at the time his better half passed away, her wristwatch was on the night stand, he has never gathered the courage to pick it up and keep it somewhere else.
When Keith lost his beloved Evy Davison he felt crushed and lonely. He lost his wife of 66-years and he was always feeling an overbearing feeling of loneliness that he knew he had to do something about it as soon as possible.
So the retired judge decided to install a swimming pool in his backyard in Morris, Minnesota, so that his neighbors especially kids could come and have a swim at his house. Thanks to his brilliant idea, now the old man has so many visitors that his house will never be quiet again.
The pool, which measures 16ft (4.9m) by 32ft (9.8m), was installed earlier this year before the kind nonagenarian unveiled it to the neighborhood kids in July. More than enough space to fit plenty of noisy children. Keith says that he doesn’t feel lonely anymore because of the well-appreciated company of the neighborhood children.
It’s a pity that the old judge has not yet been blessed with grandchildren of his own despite the fact that he has three adult children. But as one neighbor rightly told him,
“You kind of adopted our whole neighborhood of kids. These are your grandchildren.”
Keith no longer feels alone, although he does enjoy a quiet swim once in awhile on the rare occasion that the pool is free, that is.
As expected, children from the neighborhood have already shown up at the new pool and are seen swimming in the video.
“I knew they’d come,” he said, laughing.
The community of Morris Minnesota is thrilled to have a place where their kids can go and play, without even paying a single cent.
“He’s spreading joy throughout our neighborhood for these kids,” one woman said.
The video has gone viral and people have taken to social media to share their reactions to Davison’s efforts, too:
“This is what a good person looks like ❤️,” one commenter said.
And another added,
“That’s what will keep you young, happy and beautiful. Thank you😎”
